Unarchive photo or video from Google Photos archive

Purpose

This guide shows you how to find a previously archived photo or video and unarchive (restore) it in Google Photos.

Before you start

  • This guide assumes you are using Google Photos on an Android phone or tablet. However, the same functionality exists in the iPhone app or web app.

Steps

  1. Open the Google Photos app Google Photos app icon..
  2. At the bottom, select Collections.
  3. Select Archive.
  4. Select and hold the item you want to restore.
  5. Select ⋮ > Unarchive.

Result

Your photo or video will be back in the Google Photos library.

Troubleshooting

  • Photo or video wasn’t in the archive?
    • If you deleted the photo or video recently, here is how to restore it.
