Turn on Google Photos backup

Purpose

This guide shows you how to automatically save your photos and videos in Google Photos to your Google Account.

Before you start

  • This guide assumes you have an Android phone or tablet.
  • You need a valid Google Account.

Steps

  1. Open the Google Photos app Google Photos app icon..
  2. At the top right, select your Profile picture or initial.
  3. Select Photo settings.
  4. Select Backup.
  5. Turn on Backup.

Result

Photos and videos will automatically sync with your Google Account. Google Accounts include 15 GB of storage by default.
